Episode 20 – Hammer and Axe

The rambling babble in the show explains more about the story. Suffice it to say, this is part one of another story set in Mystic Frontiers, the Alternian fantasy setting.

This story will eventually become part of the Wayfarer’s story. I could claim they were always going to be the same story, but that’s simply not true. Wayfarer was started because someone asked me to write a fantasy story. Hammer and Axe started because I liked the phrase “Hammer and Axe” and as I walked to lunch one day, my ankles were popping and my elbows cracked as I stretched, and I thought “I’m gettin old …” which became Hammer’s first line.

Some links before I say more about the story:

  • Children of the Gods – mentioned in the outro babble as part of why this episode has been delayed. I have two short lines in Episode 8, and a bigger part in the (currently) upcoming Episodes 9 and 9.5
  • AlterniaComics.com – New and improved! And still a work in progress … But if I link back there from here, maybe I can make the google bot dizzy. ;) (since the alterniacomics page links to here..)

Spoiler Alert!
For anyone familiar with Alternia, Anne is actually Rianne the Explorer, now a retired Bard well in to her 90s. Rianne is MyF’s incarnation of Cathy Travis, a quasi-pan-dimensional human. She can’t cross the dimensional boundary, but she can access information her otherselves know, usually thinking it’s fiction and writing and publishing it as such.

This isn’t really important except to say that Rianne is using minions to continue her explorations because, while her mind is still sharp as a tack and curious as ever, her body has become frail and tired.
